Frequently asked questions
Everything firms ask before they join the waitlist — about JILL, DDEAS, security, deadlines, and early access.
What is Discover Docket?
Discover Docket is a litigation platform for California solo and small firms that unifies case management, drafting, docketing, research, and deposition analysis in one workspace — anchored by JILL, its built-in legal AI, and governed by DDEAS, its ethical AI framework.
Who is Discover Docket built for?
It is built for California solo practitioners and small litigation firms who want the leverage of a full support team without scaling staff.
When does Discover Docket launch?
Discover Docket opens to California firms first, in Q4 2026. Waitlist members are invited first.
What is JILL?
JILL stands for Judicial Insights & Legal Logic — the legal AI built into Discover Docket. She drafts, researches, dockets, and analyzes, with every output grounded in real authority and your case file.
What does JILL actually do?
JILL drafts pleadings, motions, and discovery from your case file; researches case law inside your jurisdiction; validates every citation through DDEAS; organizes uploads into a litigation-shaped folder structure; and summarizes depositions with page-line citations.
What is DDEAS?
DDEAS — the Discover Docket Ethical and Accountability Standards — validates each citation against current law, scores the confidence of every output, and records a cryptographic, chained audit trail of every action JILL takes on your matters.
How does DDEAS prevent AI hallucinations in citations?
Before any citation reaches you, DDEAS checks it against current law and flags anything it cannot verify, then records the validation in an immutable audit log. You see a confidence score and a defensible record for every authority cited.
Is Discover Docket safe for confidential client data?
Yes. Client data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based and logged, ethical walls are enforced at the data layer, and your data is never used to train third-party AI models.
How does Discover Docket handle ethical walls?
Ethical walls are enforced at the data layer, so screened users cannot reach matters they are walled off from. The restriction is built into the database, not just hidden in the interface.
What jurisdictions does Discover Docket support at launch?
California civil litigation is the launch focus, with jurisdiction-aware research, deadlines, and court rules built for California practice.
Does Discover Docket calculate court deadlines?
Yes. Discover Docket calculates litigation deadlines from your filings and triggering events, accounts for California service and timing rules, and maintains the deadline chain as your case moves.
Does Discover Docket integrate with my email and calendar?
Yes. Discover Docket includes native communications and calendaring, so email, scheduling, and docketing live alongside your matters.
Can Discover Docket replace my current case management system?
Discover Docket is designed to be your primary case management system, combining matter management, documents, calendaring, communications, research, and drafting in one platform.
How much will Discover Docket cost?
Pricing will be published when we open access. Waitlist members will see pricing first.
Who built Discover Docket?
Discover Docket was built by Chris Waters, a California litigator with 25 years of experience, alongside a team focused on ethical legal AI.
Where is Discover Docket based?
Discover Docket is built in California.

Does Discover Docket work for mid-size firms?
Discover Docket's launch focus is solo and small firms. Mid-size firms are welcome to join the waitlist and help shape the roadmap.
Is Discover Docket cloud-based?
Yes. Discover Docket runs in the cloud on US-based infrastructure and is accessible from your browser.
Does Discover Docket support trial preparation?
Yes. JILL builds trial outlines from the record, surfaces page-line deposition citations, and flags contradictions tied to your case theory.
Does Discover Docket handle mediation and arbitration matters?
Yes. Matters of any disposition — including mediation and arbitration — can be managed, documented, and calendared in Discover Docket.
What practice areas does Discover Docket support?
Discover Docket is built for civil litigation in California across common practice areas. The platform is structured around the litigation lifecycle rather than a single area of law.
Can I import data from my current case management system?
Data import is part of onboarding. Waitlist members will receive onboarding details, including supported import paths, before launch.
How is Discover Docket different from generic AI tools like ChatGPT?
Generic AI tools are not grounded in your case file or validated against current law. JILL works inside your matters, and every output is checked, scored, and recorded by DDEAS — so what you get is defensible, not just plausible.
The work gets done. You get to be the lawyer.
